Just a bit more info: The pub is on the A577 immediately west of Atherton where it has a crossroads with the B5235. From the M61 leave at Junction 5 and take the A58 (just) into Westhoughton and turn left at the first set of lights onto the B5235. A mile or so down the road after you've passed The Rose Hill Tavern and crossed over the railway at Daisy Hill station you come to a set of lights and it's on the right. Turn right at the lights for the car park.

Oh you teaser, Mike.  Any chance of a postcode I might tap into my SatNav? Right at the third lights … sort of works but I have to read something as I drive, whereas the lady in the box already knows the way  ;) cheers, Chris

Mike,

Was this session a one-off or likely to become a regular event?

Yup, great little session, and my GPS found it even if yours didn't  ;)

Just the one tiny problem really ...

The ex-pat comes late in with sweat in his socks
Finds a chair by the the corner, unpacks his box
But when he is told, he says what's this I hear
2000 $%&&in' miles ... To a pub with no beer?

Well - the intentions were good, anyway! Thanks to those who came (or attempted to come). What happened in case anybody was wondering, was that the stupid pub ran out of real ale the night before and "couldn't get any more as he'd had his quota". Eh? It makes you wonder if the breweries really do want pubs to flourish or not, doesn't it? Anyway, he then ran out of Guiness. The only redeeming moment (i.e. the moment a lynching was narrowly avoided) was the arrival of chip butties. However.....we may try another session, but not there! Watch this space.  :(
