For a very good representation of an early Messervier 4-reed one-row, see:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn8j20aO0Tc&feature=related

This instrument is very typical of Messervier's early boxes.  It has a red-painted wooden frame, a bellows divider, the blue"naugahide" plastic strips glued to the bellows frames.  It's obviously very small and light for what it is (I'm assuming that it's a 4-reed - I've only seen boxes like this with 4-reeds but there may be others out there).  Also, check out the "stops" -- they're "kitchen cabinet knobs" and obviously do not operate working slides.

The tune is "Hommage aux Musiciens" (which I believe is one of Messervier's tunes) and the player is Denis Cote.

I hate those cheap metal kitchen door knobs... I had the same on my 2-voice box when I got it, I took them off, replaced them with wooden knobs, then decided to take these off too and left the box without!

Those boxes are still great knobs on or off, love that sound!
