We should all applaud ladydetemps incredible difficult feat of posting at a palindromic time. And we, this side of the pond, get a palindromic date on Monday. Them on the other side have already had theirs.

Sorry - I'll need a demo - let's see in Americanese we start with 2 1 2010 .... The year is asymmetric. Niether day or month tokens contains a zero. I can mirror the '2' but I'm stlll left with a spare '1' in my jigsaw box. OK at a stretch '2010 01 02' might be seem as palindromic - but I've not even seen Americans write dates like that. eg your major newspapers have today as 'January 30 2010'. Back to Mr Kirkpatrick's famous Palindromic Polka ...

Four no trumps... you play Blackwood I presume? Double Blackwood here. 4NT asking how many aces partner has. Then I follow '5NT' asking again, in case he's miscounted (Apologies to non bridge players)
Chris also apologises to all Borough fans wrt the Tyne/Sydney Bridges. Combination of a misconception of a teenager who moved from Darlington to Newcastle in the 70's, knowing that at the time Dorman Long and Cleveland Bridge were then the same company, and some woefully inadequate googling. Will apply delete above

It snowed here again last night. No snowdrifts yet, though.
No palindromes, either.

Congratulations to Chris on bringing palindromic spelling to a part of 'neither'. Old, grumpy and pedantic Bill.

Will apply delete above It is so rare that we have to use Blackwood that mostly we don't bother and just go to game I played Bridge with the Trinity Bridge Club last year, who are some of the best players in the University and learned four or five conventions in a term. Forgotten most of them now thank goodness

Rees yet again as the third mystery Pratt Sister and as the third stook from the left.
Is there no limit to this man's talent?

My daughter had some of those. You have to drop it in, and then take cover behind the bathroom door.

Apparently I'm to stop tempting mum with the Jane Austen Festival and Regency Balls. I really want to go though. Unfortunately finances dictate I can do the festival or Witney. *sigh*

Console yourself with a recent quote from "The News Quiz" regarding Bath. Something like "The Romans went to Bath to see nude gladiators fight, Jane Austen went for the balls." Old, grumpy and unsympathetic Bill.
