I wanted to use a photo in my profile and so I used the browser to open one from my computer. Then I clicked on "change profile" and tried to post but no photo. Should there have been some opportunity to upload such photo? There was no upload command that I saw.
many thanks

Click on "profile", then on the left, under "modify profile", click "forum profile information", then option is there.

The option is there but it wouldn't work for me. As i said, when I was on the modify page I went to the browser, selected the photo, opened it and then clicked on "change profile." Is there something else I must do to upload it before I can add it to my profile?
thanks to whoever

If you are like me you may have failed to notice the "Change Profile" button bottom right of the Forum Profile Information page. So after uploading your picture you need to press the button.

Nope, I pressed the button. Is it possible my JPEG is too large or something?
A bit frustrating because I have had no photo but convinced my kids to pose with me and so the family band is ready to be to human view displayed.

I think the 2.40 MB JPEG is too large (I just tried it out in the sandbox). Now my technical ineptitude becomes all too obvious. I have no idea how to compress it so it works. Any ideas?

Yes - at 2.4 MB it is far too large. I forget what the limit is, but it will only be about 250 KB or less. If you send me a copy of your jpg file as an e-mail attachment, I will reduce the size for you and return it to you. You can find my e-mail address on my Profile.

For a profile picture the image must be no larger than 90 pixels by 90 pixels.  The forum software won't reduce the size for you, you need to use your own image editing prog for that.   If you use a mac you can do it with iPhoto.   Someone here will be able to advise about windows machines.   If you get stuck email me the image and I'll do it for you.

You know, I have so often found great help on this site, for almost anything. I just find it so appropriate that Theo, Rees, Lester and Steve should be the group who have assisted me with this. The four of you know so much more than most of us on this forum--certainly more than I will ever know. And your postings so often share this knowledge kindly and generously. So thanks yet again.
And you are right, Rees, that is a very easy website, even for me.
And here is the family band
best
