I'm suffering from MAD for some months now, and I have aquired some more or less alive melodeons.
Actually I do not like non-working instruments, so I have started to refurbish them.

The first one is a D/G melodeon, made in Vienna in the 1920s by Karl Schwirsch, one of more than 50 accordeon manufacturers at this time in Vienna.

I have cleaned the reed plates and reeds and revalved them with modern plastic valves

Next step: reattaching the reed plates to the reed blocks
Question: How do I use the reed waxing spoon ? Actually I do not have any idea how to do that (I have one like "Reed Wax Spoon #404" on
http://www.hmtrad.com/catalog/winds/sbx/sbx-part.html )
or should I go for a different method ?
The bellow requires some major efforts:

The bellow is tight. I plan to replace the caliko strips only, and I also want to enforce the ends with cardboard
Question: How to remove the old glue (hide glue) ? It is very hard when dry, and gets very sticky when wet - or should I leave it on ?
