I'm suffering from MAD for some months now, and I have aquired some more or less alive melodeons.
Actually I do not like non-working instruments, so I have started to refurbish them. mel3

The first one is a D/G melodeon, made in Vienna in the 1920s by Karl Schwirsch, one of more than 50 accordeon manufacturers at this time in Vienna.

I have cleaned the reed plates and reeds and revalved them with modern plastic valves

Next step: reattaching the reed plates to the reed blocks

Question: How do I use the reed waxing spoon ? Actually I do not have any idea how to do that (I have one like "Reed Wax Spoon #404" on http://www.hmtrad.com/catalog/winds/sbx/sbx-part.html )
or should I go for a different method ?

The bellow requires some major efforts:

The bellow is tight. I plan to replace the caliko strips only, and I also want to enforce the ends with cardboard

Question: How to remove the old glue (hide glue) ? It is very hard when dry, and gets very sticky when wet - or should I leave it on ?

Work in progress ...

Reeds revalved and waxed onto the reed blocks and bellow gets new tapes

The bass mechanism ... quite simple ... made of wire and wood only (original condition)
