Crazy for free reeds!

« on: March 08, 2010, 04:33:14 AM »

???I found this in the depth's of You Tube. Very odd construction. It seems to be diatonic, sounds like it's tuned to a natural temperament, and has a most unusual bass/chord arrangement. Some might find the sound obnoxious, but I think it sounds great. Anyone who might be able to shed more light on this? Please post. Thanks - Tim

There was a Finn playing a diato with a similar bass at Kaustinen Festival (Finland) last summer.  The right end was AFAIR in G/Em. Didin't really fathom the chords on a brief 'go' but they were sort of all for those keys (as expected) with many in both directions.

Estonia is but a few hours across the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki by ferry, their languages are connected, (though the vodka is a lot cheaper).
