Brian,

I see Carolyn Francis at a session which takes place in the Ring of Bells in Kendal every Monday evening, so I can easily pass on a message to her. I can also try and drum up some support next Monday evening among other musicians at that session, if you like. They might be more interested if they know that there is someone with whom they can share transport.

Incidentally, this new session finally gives me one that I can attend on a regular basis. It takes place on the same night as our morris practice and within yards of the hall where we practice, so it's straight out of the morris practice and straight into the session - bliss!  :D

Hi Bob

Glad to hear you have a session to go to now! Any sort of publicity within the folk world is gratefully accepted, if you can just mention to Carolyn about it, then I'll be grateful.  I am looking forward to a whole coach full from Cumbria (?!).

I'll do my best, but the coach might be something of a problem. I believe that most of the coaching inns in Lancashire have closed, so we might struggle to find a fresh relay of horses!  ???

I told Paul Bonnett who knows a lot of Wirral Folkies - did he contact you? There also Chris and John from Jodrell Bank - sometimes at the Bilinge session

No contact from Paul, but Chris and John know about it (and perhaps have signed up - not sure)

A few questions, Brian, that I am likely to get asked next Monday.

1. Is the event definitely going ahead?
2. Has it been decided yet what tunes we are going to play? If so, what are they?
3. Are details of time and venue available yet?
4. Any other relevant information, such as where's the best place to park?

1. yes
2. Yes, Oyster Girl and Davy Davy Knick Knack  (you heard it first here!)
3.  Liverpool One (outside GHL/Debenhams) and Church St, each one once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Actual Times TBA.
4. No idea about parking I'm afraid. I will try to investigate.

Hope that helps.

Can we re-post the registration details? It might bring a few more in. You know how these things can get lost in the thread.

4. Any other relevant information, such as where's the best place to park?[/color]

Further earliers elsewhere:

Parking:  players may be able to park outside the all day every day inner and outer parking zones and use bus passes on the buses to move about free-ly...........with box in shopping trolley. This assumes Lpool allows non-Scouse residents' freedom passes......

The two controlled zones have maximum parking time of two hours.  The Council seems to have no zone map online.
http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/liverpool/

Parking in Lpool One is not cheap nor are other car parks.

Does anyone have friends relatives alumnae with connections at Everton Valley (school/performing arts college ) and or their music department ... for performing participants. They might also have some thoughts about safe parking and getting into town as they are quite near.
http://www.notredameliverpool.com/

Same applies to  The Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts, based in Paul McCartney's old school, a specialist school for the performing arts.
www.lipa.ac.uk/

What about alumni/ae contacts for players  from St Anselms, St Edwards and SFX , Bellerive FCJ?

2. Yes, Oyster Girl and Davy Davy Knick Knack  (you heard it first here!)

Looking at ABC of these are they both in G?
If so, how much trouble would one get into on the day (apart from being ostracised and tied to one of the floor rings down at the slave dock  near the Baltic pub ) if one played  in C or D or C# or F ? Trying the abc transposer at this very moment.

Only G available at the mo is 20 button anglo tina (CG) which would be mainly on the screechy right side of the G or a tremolo G haarmoooonika.

Hello Fleeleader...Hello Fleeleader. Are you hearing, Are you hearing,??  Is there a C C-orps forming or am I a dead C-orpse in the water at the Pier Head ?

Maybe I will save a lot of practice (and computer toon conversion) time by just doing the chords by ear............... ??? ??? :-\

It would be suicidal to play the tunes in C if everyone else is playing in G.
Get with the programme for evans sakes!

Sounds like its about time to learn the tina properly then; tunes with both hands.

The other alternative is to play G on the C row of a melodeon and find an F# elsewhere in the accidentals or miss them out if a one row. I've just tried both on a C 4-stop in G and they work quite well.

On Davy davy knick knack substitute a low d for the F#s

Following performing arts depts of  Lpool schools have now been emailed directly in consultation with Brian Read: SFX, St Edwards, St Anselms, LIPA, Belle Rive, Notre Dame Everton Valley, Holly Lodge, Lpool Phil outreach,

If someone out there has contacts at depts in Lpool Uni, John Moores, Edge Hill, Preston, Lancaster. Keele & any others, plus schools/colleges from Sandbach to Blackpool and Pier Head to Bangor, I can send you a personal message with a coverall announcement ready for quick adaptation.

Brian,

Despite my earlier promise to do so, I did not manage to see Carolyn Francis on Monday. I know this is no excuse, but last Thursday I had an accident on Ingleborough in which I knocked myself unconscious and sustained several injuries. So, instead of going to Kendal on Monday, I was lying in a hospital bed in Northallerton. I have just been discharged from hospital, but the injuries to my left arm and shoulder prevent me from playing the melodeon yet. While I usually heal quite quickly, there is now a considerable doubt over whether I shall be fit enough to attend the event in Liverpool. Sorry! (I must learn to take more water with my whisky!)
