Hello.
I've been keen to start playing the melodeon for a while and I recently bought an old Hohner which seems to be Eb/Bb. I'm hoping that someone might be able to tell me a bit more about it - a search on Google hasn't turned much up.
I'd ideally like to sell it or swap it for a D/G melodeon, so if anyone's interested just drop me a line.

I've attached some photos but it's marked - 'Hohner St. Louis Gold Medal 1904'.
It seems to be a very similar model to the one illustrated in the image from an old catalogue that I found online. That suggests that it originally cost $14.50
Can anyone tell me anything else about it?
Cheers,
Jim

It looks like a mix of 3 of my vintage boxes.
A BbEb Hohner, my Ad Koch, & my "1904 Gold Medal" one row Hohner.
You may want a DG, but I wouldn't trade this one for it. BbEb is a wonderful key. At some point you may want to have it restored & play it. :||:

Thanks Airtime
Ideally, I'd love to keep it but I can't justify having two melodeons at the moment.
Young family and looming redundancy have put the mockers on that sadly... :-\
It plays really nicely - I think it's been restored in the recent past - but I can't play along to the tunes I'd like to learn (morris and English trad) in Eb/Bb.
I'll put up some video soon so you can hear how it sounds.

I've got an Erica D/G which still has the plastic wrapping on the bass strap, in fact it still has the price sticker on it. It's been we'll played and there is slight wear on the bellows were my fat tum rubs against it. There are a few beer stains but otherwise in fine nick.
Would be quite prepared to swap. I doubt if it has had more than ten hours playing time.
PM me if you are interested.

Jim,
Pm me with your email. The auto reply on Melnet is not working for your address.

Was there ever a swap :P I did find my own 2 row 1904 just now but yet to know the tuning and it’s not this mother pearl instead it’s the old school buttons...
