That's a great tune - never heard it before either. Trad I take it? I suspect you meant to post this to the Recordings and Videos board, but I'm glad you didn't - would be a great TOTM nomination...

You're right - that was a mistake, but I'm happy to let sleeping Youtubes lie  8)

I'll be very interested to see what other folks manage to do with it when the time comes.

The tune's laid out in dots and abc here: http://www.singdanceandplay.net/free-traditional-music-classes-at-the-gun-and-spitroast-horsmonden/ (http://www.singdanceandplay.net/free-traditional-music-classes-at-the-gun-and-spitroast-horsmonden/)

I don't know the author... I imagined it was traditional but should have checked. Blush! Tomorrow...

That's a lovely, lovely rendition. Very sensitive ornamentation. It's supposed to be a Kerry barn dance, but I have no idea where it originated. You may want to listen to Chicago-based John Williams's take on it on his album Raven. He gives it a Cajun twist and it works !
The other one is by Jack Talty and Cormac Begley on concertina and is available on iTunes. All good stuff, all three versions. Thank you Gavin !
