Title: Soothing Melodeon
Post by: syale on January 03, 2013, 01:09:54 PM
I like listening to Arvo Part's album Spiegel im Spiegel (non melodeon). It is very simple, hauntingly so.

Are there any melodeon tunes that are in the same vein?

as I have no idea how that tune goes I can't come up with a melodeon ' alternative'.  However there are many haunting and theoreticaly simple to play tunes  that a DG box can manage easily - but to play  '' haunting'' requires considerable skill, particularly belows control.  Any chance of a clip of Spiegel

Grind Hans Jässpodspolska (CEG) always does my soul good, and as I relax more around the tune .. it gets better and better.

It's not often you see the words "soothing" and "melodeon" in such close proximity :)

I find a lot of french stuff to be very soothing, the best one I can think of is:

You can print the dots from the ABC file...If you can't let me know and I will generate a PDF for you tonight. I use MEFA on windows.

Some Naragonia tracks are extremely easy listening too.

Arvo Part's song Spiegel im Spiegel is very simple but it's simplicity makes it so relaxing  (:)

No prize for spotting the Melnetter ;)

The Spiegel Im Spiegel clip is too reminiscent of Ludovico Einaudi for my taste ::)

No - but it's not really about 'ABC'.  It's that off centre rhythm that stirs my emotions.
Same applies to Pascale Reubens's music I suppose .. but I'd dance to that  ;)

Thanks, but I was referring to the naragonia tune that I wish I had dots for :)

Sayle:  I find many tracks on Duo Absynthe's CD soothing, especially the opening track Dave and the Amazone track.  I also recently bought Dermot Byrne and Floriane Blanke's CD (harp and melodeon) which has a number of soothing tracks as you would imagine with such a sparse but effective instrumentation.  My two cents  Charlie

I think the Goldberg Variations soothing in the extreme; be a bit of a challenge on the melodeon though....

George, you can hear a clip on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arvo-Part-Spiegel-Im/dp/B006GJEG36/ref=sr_shvl_album_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357221956&sr=301-1 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arvo-Part-Spiegel-Im/dp/B006GJEG36/ref=sr_shvl_album_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357221956&sr=301-1)

Didn't hear any melodeon in the clip, bit of a Brian Eno type thing going.

I like listening to Arvo Part's album Spiegel im Spiegel (non melodeon). It is very simple, hauntingly so.

Are there any melodeon tunes that are in the same vein?

Stephen

From my original question I mentioned that the source was non melodeon but I was looking for something in the same vein as it.

Many Thanks for posting the CEG abc - had just come across this tune on Andy Cutting's CD and it became a "Must Learn"

I play The Bay Tree, The Walled Garden, and finish up with the CEG...it shouldn't work but it does. CEG haunted me for ages, I was SO THRILLED when I learned it...with huge help from Nick Wiseman-Ellis.
