I`ve just got an old Hohner Educator-1 Mouthie (the one in the cardboard glasses case with the two bass holes before the 10 normal ones) and would like to clean it out for hygene reasons among others , I`ve not taken the covers off yet but I`m asuming it`ll have the old paper valves if any are left ..
I`d be grateful for Any advice on doing this as I`ve never done it before. thanks

I've never dismantled this specific model of harp, so take my advice with caution. If the valves really are paper I guess that you would replace with the plastic valves used on modern chromatics. In more general terms, isopropyl alcohol is good for sterilising.
Good luck

Fantastic thanks - I`ve got Isopropyl , I`ll give it a soak and a scrub ..

One other point. In cleaning the reed plates be careful not to change the gaps between the free end of the reed and the reed plate (unless of course you want to change the response of the instrument).
Cheers

May use Polish spirit (that`s as in Poland - not Nick`s Boot Polish) at least my playing will sound better afterwards - if only to me :|glug
