Jolly good - no searching for tunes this month; good nominations everyone! We have:
Soldier's Joy - A well known tune with plenty of scope for variety and interpretation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6wfiRJkABY ; here played by Lester.
Dr Fauster's Tumblers - Thank you Lester, here's a nice reference version of this tune too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK6U9ZzxzkY
Sussex Waltz - a waltz... from Sussex! Here ably, very ably, played by Martin Ellison - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN_tt6GsyRM
Flowers of Edinburgh - lovely old tune, popularised on melodeon at least by Tony Hall, and here played by our own Ukebert - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXVKqayckH0
Please vote for tunes you'd like to play yourself again folks; TOTM thrives if we have lots of recordings!
Cheers,
Clive

When I entered 'Sussex Waltz' in ABC Tunefinder, I got Michael Turner's...not quite what I was expecting! ???
I note that Martin Ellison got the tune he is playing from Tim van Eyken, but what is the provenance of the tune? Any sheet music or ABC available?

DTN has a rather nice version of Sussex Waltz on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb_nxCThNtA

I think it's from the early 19th Century Welch manuscript from Bosham in Sussex and published as no104 in Annie Loughran's & Vic Gammon's 'Sussex Tune Book'. (Vic always referred to the tune as the Ding Dong Waltz, but it's untitled in the book.) Compared to the ms, contemporary performances seem to me to have modified the feel and some of the notes, but that's not a criticism.

It would seem so, even the time signature has been changed! the following is apparently a transcription from the book.

T:Untitled Waltz
M:3/8
L:1/8
R:Waltz

Agree! However, they are all years over my head, so I'll settle myself to appreciating the rest of the performances!

Yes that version of Flowers of Edinburgh is absolutely wonderful. But played simply and slowly it is also very beautiful and well worth taking the time to learn, even without the harmonies and the descant line that Ukebert miraculously manages to include IMHO.

Thanks for reminding me of Ukebert's video.
For me he's managed to lift a wonderful tune into another dimension. Stunning.
Listening again now, I can't help but notice, 'first time through' before all the right hand fireworks start, what a lovely rhythm he has. A real nice 'bum- chukka' feel that is in itself is just lovely.
One of those 'special' videos for me.

Come on folks, there is (just) time to get "Flowers" into the lead.
