Title: Experience playing in the band this year!
Post by: gmatkin on January 20, 2016, 01:43:15 PM
I just thought I'd drop a line to this forum about our workshops and how our workshoppers will be working on some tunes and rehearsing ahead of playing for a dance at Frittenden in mid-Kent on Saturday the 19th March.

The workshops are all-instrument (I'm a multi-instrumentalist who plays melodeon, fiddle, guitar and so on) and anyone who would like to come to the free twice monthly workshops I run at the mid-Kent  village of Horsmonden is most welcome.

They're free, but definitely not crap, and unlike some slow tunes sessions we spend a lot of time working on style and phrasing for danceability. We're going to start slow, and work up to a good dancing speed (usually 120bpm, or so, except for waltzes!).

We're a friendly lot and the tutor is sympathetic and experienced, so this is a pleasant, safe way to progress from playing in your bedroom to playing in the back room of a pub to playing for dancing.

If you know anyone for whom this would represent an interesting opportunity, please direct them to the Singdanceandplay.net website and in particular to the tunes workshop pages at http://www.singdanceandplay.net/free-traditional-music-classes-at-the-gun-and-spitroast-horsmonden/ (http://www.singdanceandplay.net/free-traditional-music-classes-at-the-gun-and-spitroast-horsmonden/)
