No doubt a few videos will be along presently, so give learning this tune a go and let's see some recordings!
Enjoy,

4 stop in A and DG pokerwork,
All the best

Ah - is THAT what that tune's called? I learnt it donkey's years ago (I think maybe from The Old Hat Band, but I can't be sure) and I've never known its name.

Marvellous - thank you Bill :-)

Having failed to record anything last month, here's a quick recording of Nelly's Hat.

I liked that a lot Mitch. What is that amazing box you're playing?

Thanks, this me getting to grips with my new one and a half row from Marcel Désgagné in Quebec. It's a 4 stop one row in D plus a half row of accidentals which give two complete chromatic octaves.
-
Great words too,"Then you don't know nelly like I do said the naughty little bird on Nelly's hat"
-
Great version here !

My mother used to sing some very different words, which I did not understand till I became a teen.
-
I had a look at the original song and had a go at that.
In the key of F as written and on a Dallapé melodeon with recently-replaced bellows but as you can hear, in need of new pads to stop the clacking.

Possibly Old Hat...or could have been Katie's Quartet...Rob. the cello player in said beat combo used to play in Tickler's Jam with Ed Caines and a female singer and they used to feature it in their music hall set...
I wish I had a similar memory for useful things...like where I left my specs... :|glug

Wonderfully crisp articulation especially those little triplets. Now I know why it's worth playing a one-row. Thanks

Here's my take on this tune:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNx7rEh-HCk
played on a D/G Hohner Lucia in D (so I'm not using the G or accidental rows at all). This is a jolly little tune, but for some reason I find it completely impossible to remember it - so Bill, I may have upped the video play count on your video a bit, since I have to remind myself of the tune by looking at your video everytime I play it!
Cheers,
Clive

That's a LOT of buttons Clive.... :|bl

Just because there's a lot of buttons doesn't mean I know how to use them all :-)

I only started learning this three days ago, so it's a bit slow and by no means perfect, but at least I managed to film it without going horribly wrong!

Seriously good start to life as a melodeon player. You're going to have to change you forum name at this rate.
-
Suffering mild depression when I realise how painfully slow my ability to learn new tunes is compared with so many of the newcomers to the black art of melodeon playing. Well done Brianna (Wannabeplayer).

Hare and tortoise! I was a hare for a bit, now plateaued. We all hit walls. Sometimes even go backwards. But you're right - this is great progress in such a short time.

Encouragement is the most important thing - so I am adding mine to those before me! Really, well done!!! :-)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! (:)

End of the month = next tune time; stick late versions of it on the end of this thread as ever!
