Title: Big raid on accordion shop branch !!
Post by: Chris Ryall on August 18, 2016, 10:34:38 AM
From FB (it happened Monday) -I have edited out the pictures but left the prices as a guide. These all seem to be PA's or similar and may well be in a container to another country already. Please report anything suspicious offered to you to the phone no in their post.

See https://www.facebook.com/theaccordionshop/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf

We are sad to have to say that our Sunningdale shop has been broken into and 40 accordions, our computers and accessories have been stolen.

Likely to have been carried out by an organised gang, they knew what instruments they wanted, taking mainly Italian accordions of high quality from makers, Cooperativa, Excelsior, Paolo Soprani, Scandalli. Etc.   Please see the full list below with links of individual details for each accordion.

We are pleased to say that we are still trading from both the Sunningdale and Rochdale shops, as we still have plenty of accordions in stock, although being stored off our premises until we add further security. So if you are looking to visit us, please contact us before hand so that we may bring to the shop the models of accordions you could be interested in.

Should you be offered any of the accordions listed, or are suspicious of any adverts you may see online etc, please contact our Sunningdale shop on 01344 873717

Yes, I saw it on facebook too - all piano boxes bar one, the "Galanti B/C 2 Row Melodion", in red and white celluloid, with 5 treble couplers and 2 bass registers. Those are rare, and unusual looking, and that one may be of little or no use to the thieves - it might just surface somewhere...

The grille, with the switches, would remind me of an old-fashioned radio!

In Sweden was recently   (may 2016)  a number of boxes stolen. Total value  approximately 100,000 pounds.

Well, only if Yorkshire has moved to Sweden while I wasn't looking... ;)

Perhaps the guys did. . . . .   move I mean.

Where is a market for them?  ?

But Yorkshire is welcome here   if   "he"   want to come!   ;)

"Yorkshire" Ken was spotted playing melodeon in the Board pub, Whiby last weekend and should be back tomorrow.

Despite Whitby's close (!) relationship with the Viking's I am not aware of any plans to visit Sweden, but after last April I would recommend Malmö's "Scandi Squeeze in" to anyone with a box, and a nearby Easyjet connection  (:)

Nearly 3 months after the event, but Saturday's Guardian included an article headlined CCTV image released as police put squeeze on accordion thieves (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/oct/29/cctv-image-police-squeeze-accordion-thieves-sunningdale-berkshire?CMP=share_btn_fb), stating 'Thames Valley police ... have now released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the robbery. Investigating officer PC Andrew Corbett said: “I am appealing for the man pictured in these images, or anyone who knows him, to please contact Thames Valley police immediately as we believe he might have vital information about the burglary.

"We believe the man might have links to Port Talbot, so I would encourage communities in that area of south Wales to share our appeal and these pictures. If you know this man or have any other information about this burglary, please call 101 and ask for Thames Valley police, quoting reference number 43160218225." '
