Title: Club Key Numbering for Beginners
Post by: Willh on August 18, 2017, 07:54:27 AM
Looking at the German club system tutors here on Melnet I've got a question about the "correct" numbering system for the buttons.

The "1x1-Handharmonika.pdf" shows a 30-button model (23 melody and 7 helper). For the F and C rows, each line starts with a "0" and then numbers up to 10 and 11 respectively (that is, the last button on the F row is no. 10 and the last button on the C row is no. 11).

Is this a universal way of numbering the club system or do different players and teachers use different numbering schemas?

I've numbered my Hohner chart using the above model (albeit without the helper key numbering system used in "1x1-Handharmonika.pdf"), but am now wondering whether this is going to cause problems as I find and refer to other people's tabs for tunes.

What say you all?

I'm not aware of any numbering standard for buttons.

I'm guessing the number "0" is used in this case to show that it's a 4th button start. Most accordions will be either a 3rd button start or a 4th button start so if you start with number "0" on the 4th button then the rest of the numbers will be the same for the other buttons on the keyboards.

Thanks, Sean. Sounds good to me.

Yes. The complete Club layout adds one button to each of the lower ends of the two main rows (which normally comprise ten respectively eleven buttons). In this tutor book they are designated with "0" to conserve the traditional button numbering.

(Additional buttons on the helper row could be designated by the two neighbouring buttons on the middle row, for example "5/6" and "6/7".)

Good to know.
