Title: Cairdin B/C box on eBay
Post by: fiddleboxdavey on November 06, 2017, 09:11:46 PM
I’ve spied a Cairdin box in B/C on eBay.
It’s being sold from a shop in Ashford in Surrey.
I have a dilemma now however, as they will not post it.
I realise this is an extremely long shot but would anyone here be willing to collect it and post it up to me if I’m the winning bidder?! I will pay for someone’s time and also make a donation to mel.net if it was successful.
I really am stuck as to what else to do about it right now.
I’m in the grip of MAD.
Maybe I should just go and find a therapist.
Any suggestions gratefully received....
Davey.

I doubt if a therapist would trail all the way to Ashford, and the cost might be prohibitive anyway!

Mmm...
Maybe I should tell the wife that the only therapist I could find to help me already lives in Ashford.

Aye aye Gerry.
Yer 4 voice Cairdin was a bit chunky for me I’m afraid!
The 2 voice mini is a great size.
You’re not planning a trip to Kent soon then?!

You would be best to check. The seller of the box I bought in Lincoln absolutely refused to parcel it up. Well within his rights of course.

Yes many of the couriers do a collection and delivery service but if the seller refuses to pack it up, the game's a bogie.
Boo.
Best of luck to whoever wins. It looks a great little box.

I am showing my ignorance here, the cairdin is sold new in Ireland and is designed for that market. it may be in key of B C . how do you tell?
the ebay listing does not say the key.   were they only made in B C ?    ( if it were a hohner and the key not disclosed, one would think C F or C C#.)    as a rule ??  irish boxes =23 button , English =21 button.  I assume those interested in buying this box know all the answers ,its just me that's clueless.
  just a thought..  brian..

Good point,Brian. The Cairden website states that the accordions can be tuned to different keys and that they have made G/D boxes for the English players / market, best to check.

Aye, I let you have it Fred! Haha!
Best of luck with it, I'm sure it'll be a great wee box.
I couldn't find a courier to pack it up and post it for me. Boo.
I've a Bertrand Gaillard box coming in May though. I'll just have to content myself with that when it arrives!
Only 172 days to go. Yay!

Yeah it’s lovely. I’d be interested to know the story behind it. Someone used it as collateral for a loan, then never came back to pick it up/pay the loan off. No idea what they bought it for, but while I was waiting I saw them buy a DVD for £2.00 and price it up for £12.00, so if that’s indicative of their profit margin they had a very good day
