Title: Anyone near Bristol fancy a get together?
Post by: Little Eggy on September 14, 2018, 02:59:34 PM
Hi,
I live just outside Bristol.  Any nearby melodeon players fancy a get together from time to time?
Just testing the water.....

My Mam lives just across the water and I fancy joining you if my visits ever coincide with your future sessions. Please keep posting your dates. Likewise, you would be welcome to join the NE Melodeon Group sessions if you're near Newcastle - first Monday of month unless we notify changes on melnet or facebook.

I'm not so far away in Bath and will sometimes be found at these sessions:

They are run by a concertina player but are for any instrument. Let me know if your going to be at one of these and I'll try to be there too.

Thanks! hadn't heard of those sessions.  I go to the Thornbury monthly session at the Swan, which is always good fun.

Thursday is a Morris night for me and it would be an hours drive, still maybe one time I'll give it a go.

Hello Eggy
The Bristol French Session (Tunes & Dancing) meets on the Third Sunday on Cotham Hill,  and the Bath French session (Tunes) on the first Sunday. Tunes mostly in D and G minors and majors to suit the bagpipes and gurdy. Two melodeons players are regulars, but it's not a melodeonist get-together. There are some videos on the webpage to see if it suits. The Wednesday night Bath  English session at the Royal Oak has more typical melodeon repertoire. This webpage includes bristol too:    http://bathfrenchsession.wordpress.com/
Best wishes
Jack
