Title: 2019 (end Feb) improvisation course in S of France
Post by: Chris Ryall on November 29, 2018, 12:52:47 PM
"Stage d' Impro" is a legend in France over nearly 30 years, it's usually booked solid.

next February's course runs through the week from Sunday 24 Feb. I am thinking to go by train, or maybe drive if I have a co driver. Flying is a bit awkward. The course is hard work, and essentially needs a 2½ row box. It is more about Rt hand technique than left, and much more about "music" than any particular instrument.

You'll learn the 7 Greek modes, Harmonic minor, blues scales, and their relationship to chords. don't fret about a DG  box … it offers easy "lydian" #4th playing in C 😉 and access to A blues against A minor riffs, if you see what I mean. There are at least 3 mornings sat at a desk, first attendance. (Repeaters get these as music with a tutor).

All in French, but I've seen several Italians, Germans and an Estonian do OK, with help from others. They use do=C ré=D etc notation, but chords are same as here. wednesday is always an excellent blues module 😎 and evenings … performances and general partying.  There is an English glossary of terms to help.

Posts here welcome, PM is better if you hope to go
