Title: Dark Girl Dressed In Blue
Post by: Alan Morley on April 18, 2019, 11:53:25 AM
I have just got around to re-instating my Youtube channel and have uploaded a few videos which I did years ago.

Here's my take on a former Tune Of The Month - Dark Girl Dressed in Blue

Blimey, that video was ages ago too. I can't remember what tune I used for that. The 'feet' were a pair of slippers with fur and big claws which I bought to frighten the grandkids with :)
I don't think it's on the hard drive anymore. I recall doing another daft video where I made a melodeon vanish under a blue cloth using the video trick of green/blue screen...

Thanks for remembering :)

Found it....

During a particularly dark period it was a go to Video for a cheer up Alan (along with Guy Heathcote's 'Final Plough), so a belated thank-you. Not that I was ever much good but I play less and less as I just can't remember the music (sometimes as little as the first note brings a tune back until it evaporates again mid bar somewhere or morphs into something else) I wonder if it was one of the Nutters tunes? fortunately the images are still razor sharp :)

Thanks for the nice comment, it's good to know that I might have put a smile on your face. Music can be too serious at times so I look for ways of bending and twisting melodies into submission.

You are right about the Nutters. The Britannia Coconut Dancers are unique and have used the tunes for ever, brilliant dancing to a brass band.

As for remembering tunes - well I have forgotten loads. When I first started to learn melodeon I worked my way through the book 1000 English Country Dance Tunes by Michael Raven.

As I never learned to read music, I used a midi program on my computer to enter notes one at a time on to a stave, it took flippin' ages. To make things worse, I discovered that the programme was not 'standard' midi and could only play back the tunes in the one strange format on Windows 98. When Windows upgraded I must have lost around 500 tunes....

I think the Nutters call the first tune 'Clow Bank'.
