Here is a picture of the interior and keyboard of a Hohner Club V. Note the reeds are tacked on to leather gasket...no wax in sight. And the switch on the back of the keyboard.
I'm thinking of converting to DG (:) ..for barndance work...

Even as it is, untouched since at least the 1940s (I have a photo somewhere of a young woman playing this very instrument in 1941 in Switzerland), it sounds pretty amazing.

BbEb is a great sound. It won't be the same in DG!

Yes, i agree. I was thinking about how to do it etc but when I played it this afternoon..it’d be a shame to change it. I need a box that can easily play in C and A as well as DG...so I though this might be a good candidate. It’s been sitting on my shelf for over two years (:). The low notes on the chin end are v low, and the bass is stonking.

Are the low bass reeds laid flat?

I don’t think so (I’ll check tomorrow but from memory earlier today I didn’t notice this).
