Title: Beginner CF box resources
Post by: Rog on January 15, 2020, 08:26:54 AM
Hi
Are there any resources available anywhere for English speaking complete novices to learn a two row CF melodeon?

It is worth pointing out that many boxes have the same layout so learning to play a tune on a D/G transfers directly to a C/F. It is therefore fairly straightforward to use learning resources for D/G (which are plentiful) and 'pretend' that the C/F box is a D/G. For playing on a box I simply transpose all tunes to D or G for ease of reading so that I don't have to learn to read for different boxes and reprogram my fingers to respond to notes in different positions on the stave to get the same result. Let the box do the transposing rather than the written music.

I have a CF that's tuned F scale and play it just as if it was my DG G scale.  Use the same tune tune books dots.  Don't bother to transpose.
Mind, I don't play it with others, yet, so at home, it's just a low pitched DG.
And very nice it is. (Thank you to Jimmy and Michael Usui)
Can't quite do this with a GC but works with CF.

Thanks, yes I have explained this to the person wishing to learn, but they need to hear it too and are completely thrown by the difference in pitch. I might just make some CF demos mirroring the DG ones they have been looking at.
