reedorgans are quite common here, used a lot at dances the last 150 years or so.

you can find very nice ones through ads and they are quite easy ro repair too. many of them have a lot of registers, the best beeing the sub-basscoupler. i wish there were melodeons having this.

And indeed that can cause problems. For a Christmas present last year my very thoughtful son sent off to an antique book dealer for a melodeon instruction book published in 1853. Apparently the catalog showed this page:

but not this one:

Although it was not exactly what he had hoped for, the book has turned out to be a trove of information on what the melodeon player (on this side) had for amusement in 1853. Great book!

Fabulous Victorian relics, those harmoniums.
Being an avid antique collector with an authentic Victorian front parlour I have one, of course, fully working.
My son-in-law, not to be outdone acquired one ... and then got a second one which he stripped down to make a computer desk out of the cabinet :o
So ... the innards are lying in his backyard covered in a blanket ... if anyone is interested in a restoration project ::)

I have a pair of folding ones ... one Estey, one Yamaha ... if anyone's interested.

I have one in the west midlands (UK) for which I no longer have space - free to a good home if you can collect it. Fully working (last time I played it) and in tune with itself.
