Is there a reason why, on 9 occasions out of 10, I get "No unread topics found since your last visit" when I click on "Show unread posts since last visit"? I've recently been away for a week, and when I tried unread posts I got the no unread topics message - as I do most days. I also get "No messages" if I click "try all unread topics" Is it just me? If it is, can I do anything about it?

When I logged on to melnet after having been away at Witney for the weekend, there were three pages of unread messages, so I suspect that the problem is at your end. However, I have no idea what might have caused it or how to fix it.

1 - check your are logged on!
2 - clear your browser cache
3 - clear your browsing history
If it is working for others (thanks Bob) then the finger of suspicion points at your browser. ;D

Works fine for me too....

Thanks folks - it's helpful to know the problem's likely to be at my end, whatever it is. I clear my browsing history & browser cache regularly anyway, and I haven't noticed it making any obvious difference - but then I haven't been keeping tabs on whether the problem disappeared after a clear-out. Bizarrely, it worked fine on this visit even though I hadn't changed anything in between times. It's not really a great problem, just a minor inconvenience, but I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Something silly somewhere, no doubt......

You don't have a Blackberry or similar that picks up melnet updates do you? I only ask because I've had a similar trouble with emails being marked as read when I haven't, and it's because my HTC Wildfire device is also wifi'ed in to connect to my hub.

Nothing as fancy as that, Chris; just an ordinary laptop on our local phone provider's broadband. And it's working OK today.......
