I know this is a loose connection as regards the music being supplied by a melodeon, but I am looking for instruction in step dancing. I live in Hampshire and it is an event that appears not to happen locally. I am therefore seeking instruction, a short video on youtube would suffice. I have already looked at the current videos but unfortunately they do not break the dance down sufficiently or show the type of footwear. Thanks to :Manyone who can help.

What kind of stepdancing you looking for?

There is an excellent connection between step dancing and melodeons - just look at the origins of the Dartmoor Festival and Bob Cann's playing!
There are, of course, many local varieties of step dancing so perhaps you could be a little more specific as to what style interests you? There is a team of dancers in Reading (Berks) which is quite genteel, perhaps more allied to the usual interpretation of Playford dances. Is it something more robust you're looking for, team effort or solo?

I am looking for step dancing as done in Suffolk and/or Devon

Not an expert but - is that single dancer, step clog? Don't know anyone locally, but you could do a lot worse than go to the Dartmoor folk festival. I know it's not until August...

I'd suggest a quick wiz down the A(M)27 to Brighton for the monthly falmer step dance session. loads of good dancers and musicians.
