I'm occasionally off piste as you know and use my android phone to look in here. Using its browser the main problem has been a somewhat ungovernable text entry box, and that in the recent changed version included images seem to mess up layout and I get larger acreage of white margin - suspect this is a browser bug but it didn't happen before.
I recall someone mentioned a WAP version. I suspect a text only interface may be OK, but where is it please, (and "any tips appreciated") ?

http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php?wap2 (http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php?wap2)
There is a link WAP2 at the bottom of every page.
The WAP version has been slightly improved with a link to the full version at the foot of every page, so if your connection is fast enough it is one tap to switch to the full version.

Both the full and WAP2 versions seem to work fine on my Android, with Firefox and the default browser. I use 2.3.6.

I had a go last night. The sub forums came up in in various colours and clicking the hyperlinks was pretty fast, but got me a mix of current, and some rather old threads.
I didn't miss the graphics, but http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Wireless_Device_Support .. couldn't find a way to control this. Anyone got the interface cracked?

It a works fine for me. Unread messages consistent etc. have you signed in to the WAP version?
-
Works fine on my iPhone, use it a lot, much improved on the latest version.

It seemed to pick up the cookie from my XHTML signon. I assume one uses it in the android's web browser? Trouble is - no instructions.
-
I used it on 1st gen iPhone and a 4S and it just works with the built in browser, no setting up required.

Yes but Chris was mentioning Android.

Shouldn't matter. The WAP doctype specification isn't exactly complicated.
-
Agreed. But the default browsers are not the same on iPhone and Android!

Is it my fault that he lacks taste (:)

Watch it... I am an Android fan too! Android is like free reeds in the realm of proprietary products...

I find Lester's comments pretty hard to fathom on occasion too ..
I'm sure there's an amicable interpretation in there, somewhere (:)
