I wanted to give the tune of the month a try for the beginner's showcase but I think I've run into a problem. How would I go about playing the left hand side? I play a B/C melodeon with a Joe Burke bass layout. Should I just try to drone with the basses?

Was in the same quandry myself though I have the traditional all Major layout which doesn't even lend itself to droning.  Didn't have much time to spend on experimenting this month either.  Anyway, here's the result with the usual apologies for video quality:

Some very nice interpretations of a lovely tune!

I'll have to buckle down & try & record something myself before the end of the month ...

With just a day to go: http://youtu.be/K1Z_wlSNQ90

With the odd lapse of memory - I had a surprising amount of trouble learning this.

I was hoping to post some waltzes tonight for the companion thread, but instead found myself spending most of the evening getting sound drivers working on my studio PC after a software upgrade. The waltzes may have to wait until tomorrow...

(Edit: no, I did them tonight after all:

Hi

very late in the day here is my contribution.
The problem is that it sounds quite squeaky up near (as John Kirkpatrick calls it) the dusty end of the keyboard, on a D/G.

I've also added a 'waltz' (well.. hmmm... a mazurka) here
