Here's my attempt. Played from memory and learnt by 'osmosis' probably mainly from Morris On and Edward II. I've played the tune for the song as I remember it on the inner row and then the 'main' tune on the outer row. I used my Theo-sourced Hohner CF box.

I like the atmosphere of your version. Nice melodeon, too.

I managed to solve the problem with the lack of low B. Here's the Club IIB with promise of every note one could ever need.
There are a number of variants of this tune but I couldn't get the Ouse Washes Molly version out of my head so it owes most to that.

I tried to improve the sound quality on this by recording it with some condenser mics rather than the ipad. I'm not sure it's improved the performance greatly, but I had to try and get across the sound of the Club IIB which has recently had the magic wand waved over it by Martyn White the Wizard.

Very nice, in C, - esp with the extra parts mirroring the Morris On song, which for me make it a much more interesting tune. The main theme tune is really just the chorus and (for me) a bit boring when played sans the other bits...
but (to head off a debate) that's just my personal opinion.

OK, here's my first posting for TOTM. I've been playing for about five months now so time to take the plunge and post something so this is me playing for one whole minute, complete with muttering and bum notes.

Thanks for your encouraging comments guys - it really is helpful to get some feedback.  Being in something of a melodeon desert here I am learning on my own with the help of tutor books (assorted) so I am never sure if I am playing things right or not.     :||:

Here's my shot at TOTM.  Played here on a C/F box, mostly on the C row (D minor).  I've included 'slows' as I happen to think they're part of what gives Morris tunes their majesty, magnificence, and unique Englishness, whether or not I do them justice.  When people playing them in a session know what they're doing the result is transcends anything you'd get in any run-of-the-mill thrash.

I know some (Lester) grumble at what they regard as "dodgy made up B musics".  Personally, I like them sufficiently that I put in two different ones.

On a Castagnari Hascy D/G, played in E dorian.

Aha!  So that's what it is, a fugue.  I looked it up and got:-

A polyphonic composition based upon one, two, or more themes, which are enunciated by several voices or parts in turn, subjected to contrapuntal treatment, and gradually built up into a complex form having somewhat distinct divisions or stages of development and a marked climax at the end.

Great!  Exactly what I had in mind!

Thanks Smiley!

Nothing wrong with that. Practise and experience will help smooth out a few lumpy bits but the basics are already there, well done you!

Looks like you're building on a solid foundation there!  Can't hear the 'bum notes' or the muttering (and I can grunt with the best of 'em!).  MUCH better than my attempts at that stage.  I learnt, and am still learning by trial and error.  It's been a melodeon desert in North Cumbria for years.

Yet another example of "dodgy made-up B-music" for Lester's growing collection. This particular bit I found among other printed music in my own handwriting, but I'm neither clever enough nor brash enough to have invented it. Anyone know where it came from?
