The B music visits the key of E Minor in its first half.

Horses Bransle
That's great, Lester.  Took me a while to remember where I heard it.  Blowzabella.  That minor C part is really something.  On my list!

Wells Waltz
Thanks Lester. Lovely playing!
This has to be one of my most favourite of all waltzes, based on the dulcimer playing of Mollie Whittaker of Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. If you recall, I was at the the same Katie Howson workshop as you when we both first learned this tune.

As you point out, the version of the tune in 'Before the Night Was Out' is somewhat different. I made a direct transcription from a field recording of Mollie's playing which was made when she was quite elderly and hadn't played the dulcimer for quite few years, so I suspect that rendition was sadly not one of her best (and nor was her dulcimer particularly well in tune). I really do prefer Katie's version of the tune to Mollie's.  :|bl

Here's my version, one of my multi-tracked extravaganzas, using a Castagnari Lilium melodeon, a Stowmarket Golden Box 1-row 4-stop melodeon in D, and a clarinet in A.

Spellbinding. I've not heard of a clarinet in A before. As a young 'un I had a silver trumpet with a rotary valve to change it from Bb to Eb pitch but the fingerings for a Bb instrument didn't work at all in the key of Eb and the brass band/music teacher at school had no idea how the fingerings worked. I, of course was unable to work it out myself although I spent many a happy hour trying to figure it out!
