M@W music
« on: October 25, 2012, 11:58:31 AM »

Ok - so the link to the music is there on the M@W site, but I haven't had an email with the pass code yet.  Anyone else had an email?

Getting the feeling I would not invited Dave and Co to organise a drinking session in a place that where beer is made  ::)

Don't know how doing everything electronically is apparently so much harder than by paper  :o Hope this is just first year teething troubles...

Me too - I don't blame Dave - as I'm sure that this is a nightmare to organise and I'm sure some of the delay will be down to tracking tutors down, getting the pieces off them and the recordings sorted.... I do think that the communication could be better - it shouldn't take long to send out a blanket email saying "Really sorry folks, we know we said that the music would be available mid-October, but actually it won't be ready till..."

Hopefully the link being there is a positive sign... before the weekend would be really, really good!  I do hope these are teething problems with the new system.  I thoroughly enjoyed last year and I'm really looking forward to this year - but it has been a little stressful trying to find out what's going on...  Good communication is always the key....

Hands on music has just posted on Facebook that the music is now there and access codes will be emailed 'soon' - so maybe we will get a couple of weekends practise...!!

You are almost certainly correct, Liz. Last year, when I was a tutor, I had my written music and mp3 recordings ready and sent to Dave weeks in advance, but he was kept waiting by one of the other tutors (I won't say which one) who was very late in getting the stuff sent in. It was frustrating for the rest of the tutors, as we were getting many requests for the music from participants - some who knew us personally, others via this forum, etc.

No signs yet. Regarding the last two posts...I spoke to Dave during the booking stage as I was getting a bit agitated incase I missed it (being away) and he was so kind, as you say the tutors....or maybe just one......maybe could have got their stuff together a bit sooner. As for electronics improving speed...why does it still take 3 working days to clear a cheque???????

Yes - although I may not be quite so kind now we've been told that all the music is in and the codes are 'being sent out'... I was really hopeful yesterday that I would be able to spend a good amount of time today learning tunes.  I'm back at school next week, with one very busy weekend, so I am concerned that I won't be able to make the most of the M@W weekend at this rate.  Grump.  Grump.

Sort of a thread drift...

Anyone any suggestions for session tunes that are likely to get played at the M@W weekend session that aren't too 'major' (us Boggarts start to evaporate when we play in major keys for a prolonged time)... at least then I could be using my time wisely...  My session tune repertoire is limited to Bear Dance, Rochdale Coconut, LNB polka, Go and enlist, Four up, Princess Royal, Childgrove, The Sloe, Three around three, any tune used by Boggarts, and a handful of French tunes...  Bit pitiful really, so any suggestions welcome while we await the 'real' music...  Ones that are relatively quick to learn would be good :-P

Speed the Plough   (:)

But your tunes are all v likely to turn up.

Wills Way is a good tune to go with the LNB Polka (I play it before the LNB)

ARRRRGGGH!  I can't download the PDFs!  I must have been a really bad girl this week  >:E

I can at least listen to the tunes... And can I just say "Eeeep"   Once I get the PDFs sorted, I may not put the melodeon down for two weeks... Lovely, lovely tunes though :-D

(and the corset will have to wait post M@W, Simon!   >:E)
