To right a wrong.
« on: October 31, 2012, 03:32:50 AM »

When I became a member, I expressed my appreciation of this wonderful forum.
I wish to reiterate that sentiment now.

This forum is populated with enthusiasts and experts who give generously
of their advice, expertise and knowledge.
It is hugely valuable.

I appreciate that it is not a forum for political debate.
I crossed the line and managed to tick off a few members in the process.
In my defence, I responded to comments made by others, but I hold my hands up.

I hope there are no hard feelings.

Hey - no worries! We are all strong-minded people on here and we are bound to disagree on some things occasionally. The important thing is how we do it and still maintain that spirit of friendliness. Your post demonstrates admirably that you are very aware of people's sensitivities and diversity of opinions, so I'm sure all will be well.

Thank you for your post  (:)

This IS a lovely forum! Long may it continue to be so.  :|glug

I frankly hadn't noticed any problem. I suspect that goes for many/most of us so please simply put this behind you ...

In general, discussion of politics and religion are best avoided. I'm favourably impressed by your sensitivity to and empathy with other people. Thank you for your post; it's a clear sign of a person with good character.

I follow the gourd myself.  :)

Seriously, I've never been on a forum that is so devoid of flame wars and pettiness.  Chronic thread drift, now, we're very guilty of that!

Totally agree  everything else from Cameras to Trucks, from Guitars to Synths are a hotbed of bile spitting and "Brand Supporters" & Trolls - this is where most hatred (and it is Hatred) stems from - "Fanboyism" as its called ..........

I think it must be that melodeon-ers are open minded about instruments and they all offer something different - no one will shout that Saltarelle is better than Baffetti or Hohner is better than Delicia etc because it varies box to box and person to person .. even the Duffers (and they`ve all made them even if only on batch on one Friday before Xmas)  or cheapos are looked on with an amount of Frustration, maybe even fondness but also Pity rather than Hatred .

So when that aspect is taken away, you`re left with little to get really nasty about.

Another factor in the friendliness of this forum is that so many of us know each other (or at least have met each other) in real life. We  behave on here as we would to our friends in a pub.

It can get near the mark when the hohner V castagnari debate gets going. :p  :|bl

I'm on a few other forums for various things (only on one of them have I never met any of the participants) and they are all friendly and supportive as this one. (But then they are on things like Sewing and Doctor Who).
