tried to smile and look cheerful as it's Christmas but not that successfully :|||:
Either way here's wishing all Melneters a loving, peaceful and merry Christmas - thanks for all the inspiration and support through this forum.

Was hoping to hear the new Preciosa!

I'm working on it, got to get used to the smaller buttons and different air behaviour first.
It's just soooo lovely, everyone's gonna be soooo envious :|||: :|||:

Turned it into a musical instrument   >:E

Seriously, thanks Louise and Klaus - it was a lovely performance. Merry Christmas to you both!

Played before and after our work Carol concert, just for mood music while people were chatting and eating their mince pies.  Was most gratified when someone came up to ask what instrument it was, and that presumably it was something I'd been playing since I was a child.  So apparently I look like I've been playing for decades.  Someone also came up to ask if it was a concertina, though.

I've been working on a bunch of Christmas carols for the last couple of weeks. I thought I had them pretty much worked out ... until I tried actually recording them!  ::)

Here are three efforts:

Branle de l'Officiel (Ding Dong Merrily on High)

O Little Town of Bethlehem

Good King Wenceslaus

Hopefully the festive ambiance will make up for any shortcomings in the playing!

Played for a Christmas charity waltz this year and several people complimented my on my 'concertina' playing. ???

Your videos are set as PRIVATE

Oops! Fixed! (I had been under the impression that "private" meant "the public" couldn't search for it, but anyone with the actual link could see it. Is that a different setting?  ???  Still struggling with 21st century technology!  :-[ )

Unfortunately people associated the word concertina with bellows of any kind, however crude, thus dragging down the image of true concertinas. As a concertina player I am touched by your concern for the reputation of proper instruments. You are awarded 5 house points and should go to the top of the class!  >:E

A New Zealand Christmas Carol - Te Harinui - NZers will likely cringe at this as it is the one that everyone sings at Christmas time, but it is a really lovely tune (honest!).

http://youtu.be/zLJL7qjMCzM

(Written by Willow Macky in 1957, about Samuel Marsden first preaching in the Bay of Islands on Christmas Day 1814 - it has some lovely words that bring a lump to the throat when the children sing it at school)
Thanks very much for posting this, Spikey! It kicked off our little Christmas Eve celebration here in Oregon tonight, and put us in the mood for our trip to New Zealand next year, all at the same time!

The setting you describe is called 'unlisted'. Private means you have tell YouTube exactly who can view it.
