There was an old 60's hit called "The End of the World," and the bridge went something like:

"I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything's the same as it was,
And I can't understand, no I can't understand,
Why life goes on the way it does . . ."

Good morning all, and I'll see you around.  8)

New Zealand still here and still upside down.

I was going for this -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkQ328dPsKE - a Japanese vocaloid sings a Finnish folk song while twirling a leek - a "what is the world coming to" clash of cultures. I couldn't find the link I wanted which has it performed by a hologram in front of a live audience, apart from the full 2 hour concert. (It's Ievan Polkka, and the obligatory melodeon version is  here)
so I'm sticking with the Final Countdown which I reckon would sound magnificent on melodeon

Always look on the bright side of life.  :P

Ah, yes, brilliant. You are no doubt referencing the Big Crunch as the way to go out with a bang rather than a whimper. Very bright indeed. Hat's off to your sly allusion and your doubting the role of dark matter in taking us to the black hole rather than a flash in the pan. :|glug

Oh well, thats it then, still I will still play the tune. Seems it was not the end of the world, just the end of the calender, the bloke writing it ran out of ink or if it was written in blood he ran out of incas.

My calendar ends on December 31st.  Does the world end then?

It does feel like it sometimes. Especially after a tincture or two on new years eve. I never learn, down the pub giving the old box some wellie. 'Auld Lang Syne' that should have been on the list for last night.

Well assuming there's time left to pop in a cd or grab the ipod ( did I remember to charge it?)and some cosmic blast doesn't wipe out
all electronic devises :( then I'd put on Stevie Ray Vaughan's -Texas Flood - or just about any other track on the album would do)

The prophesy was fulfilled although the scale of the catastrophe was much smaller than was prognosticated. Whilst playing my melodeon Friday lunchtime, a spring broke on one of my bass buttons.

Don't blame the Mayans. They didn't even predict the end of the world. I guess some people just didn't understand the Maya calendar (which didn't end by the way).
