As hinted at earlier, here's my Spirit of the Dance on a Hohner 1-row in C: http://youtu.be/XL4dW_5HXIk

I like that too. Good sound quality. The Hohner sound is starting to take root in me which I suspect is incipient MAD.

Such colours!  A Greenpeace pullover, Hohner Cajun model and a colour coded peg to denote the tremolo reed.  Lovely playing, too.

I'd never thought of it that way.
I had a set of black and white pegs, then I lost one...
Oh, and thank you  (:)

A Greenpeace pullover

Nah, he nicked that from professor Mike Aston from Time Team!  ;D

My contribution can be found here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7hqC3381GY&feature=youtu.be

After spending some considerable time trying to get my upload to work, I have just watched the video back and realised that I've put a little too much pace to this set of tunes - I'd probably shave a few bpm's off it for dancing to! I was concerned that my time alone in a quiet house was rapidly running out, and this is the best one of the bunch!

I hope you enjoy the sound of my freshly fettled box, courtesy of Mr Wesson! Can't say enough how pleased I am with it!

Have been voting for this each time it came up, and as hearing Andy Cutting and Chris Wood playing it was one of the reasons I started to learn the melodeon, I had to have a go.  As always, it proved more difficult than it first appeared.  I liked Andy's intro 'it's just one of the best tunes...better than all the others' (:)

Not being able to play fast yet, mine is more of a stately dance.

OK, here's my beginner's attempt at 'Spirit of the Dance'.  I have to say that I really struggled with this and I am not particularly pleased with the result BUT I made it one of my New Year's boxolutions to have a crack at TOTM each month and I just couldn't give up at the first hurdle.  I've been playing for 10 months now and really struggled with this tune.

Great efforts on both boxes PP :) It isn't a tune I would straight away teach to a beginner in one of my lessons, as the pattern isn't too easy to pick up, so well done for sticking with it and learning it. Learning these instruments is all about persistence and practice, so keep plugging away at it - and how great it will be come December 2013 to look back over your year's contributions to the TOTM thread and see your progress?

Good luck with the next tune!

End of month folks --> new tune time! Late submissions as ever are very welcome; just stick them on the end here.

You did a good job. Nothing wrong with it at all, at all. It's the struggle to overcome the obstacles that makes the result worthwhile. You seemed a little more fluid with the smaller box.
