Looking through the guest list for Whitby the following melodeon men will be performing  - Brian Peters, Dan Quinn, John Kirkpatrick, Anahata,Matt Quinn, Moor Music ( Mark Bazeley), Pete coe and maybe more to come

Also many melodeon players playing in sessions etc.

Full guest list on website

Also a good selection of new and used boxes  available from a range of traders including Theo of this parish, hobgob and music room and others

Definately the festival for melodeonists!

Yes indeed there'll be more melodeons: Vic Gammon and I will be performing (with Dearman, Gammon & Harrison) and Rod Stradling will be performing with Phoenix, with whom I also get to play gob harp.

Cheers

Nick Barber will also be there, he and I being part of English Rebellion who are playing a ceilidh on Monday night and quite likely running a workshop of some sort.

This year I will be doing   4 linked DG beginners workshops as usual on mon, tues, wed, thurs .However  instead of doing an intermediate workshop on the friday It will be on the Sunday  ( as I have to depart on thurs afternoon)  . It does mean that it will be availabe for  anyone only there for the weekend  .  All being well we will look at the dark art of playing in A on the DG box.

Just picked up on the "cottage" thing. But booking now for 2014! No smiley so I guess it's serious!

Back in the 90's we'd have a lovely flat at top of Henrietta St, with views all the way to N pole ;) booking the previous October. I got a feel this year that nice accommodation had joined Britain's stately homes "hereditary?" But that is some serious diary inflation.

On the bright side, think I may have secured the last B&B in the town  8)

oooh, George beat me to post button! Hope to get along to help under your supervision. And I've just had a bit of practice ::) I'm at my daughter's Fire in the Mountain event, which is a bit Bluegrassy (they didn't understand the "green grass" joke either ;) ). After 10 successive (though excellent) tunes/songs in A at the back of the bar, I was yearning for a Gnat, but felt well prepared for Whitby  (:)

There is always another B&B at Whitby, they just get further and further from the town centre!

Hello everyone - just noticed this thread and would like to let everyone know that there will be a Black Diamond Accordions stand at this year's Whitby Folk Week. We won't be there in person, as once again it clashes with our annual Mersea Island sailing regattas, in which we are heavily involved. But our good friend Bill Sables will be running the BDA stand for us, and he will be delighted to answer any questions and to welcome people for a test-squeeze of our accordions and melodeons.

We'll also be at Warwick and Sidmouth festivals, as well as the brand new, and very promising-looking, Lyme Folk Weekend (30 Aug-1 Sept), where we'll be hosting a waterfront session space on Marine Parade and hearty welcome awaits anyone who fancies coming along for a few tunes.
