Arghh.... a day late!
Here's my attempt warts and all
https://soundcloud.com/#thrupenny-bit/in-continental-mood-totm-feb

I'm afraid I'm a bit stuttery in places, it really is a work in progress. Saying that I was determined for once to get in and learn this tune hence my less than polished attempt.
I'm reassured that others have found it hard. I have a feeling that for me it's a tune that will take time to bed in, but thanks to ToTM for making me sit down and get to grips with it.
cheers

Oh - thanks Steve, it's the first time I've used Soundcloud so haven't got used to it's nuances.

Theo: That's a nice sound there!
I wish I'd got a F#m for the complete bass run down in the first part....... but you can't have everything!

(Play and Teach) Pete - Just catching up and have taken a look at your dissection of the tune.
I thought that was quite illuminating. Thank you for that!
It's interesting to get a non melodeon player's take on the tune ( nearly said 'musician's  ;D )
I like the tune but have no idea what musicality draws me to it, those little hooks that interest and engage the ear and brain....... your video has given me things to think about.
Good stuff - many thanks!

Another slow version http://youtu.be/XDaIGo12JOs  to bring out the melancholy which I hear in this tune and in Flatworld.
A bit late, but if I  vote for the winning tune, I feel I should make a contribution.  (Pretty pleased with that pull (D/)F# replacing  a push D  after the Bmajor-Eminor chords (DG-speak)! ::))

Well, it almost turned into the Tune of Two Months for me this time. By way of excuse, my Laura was off to Florida for a  Dancemaster tuning job for a couple of weeks in February. It's great to have it back in the house.

Many thanks to Andy Cutting for giving us such a truly lovely piece for melodeon.

Time well spent Jeff,  I keep watching and listening to your performance, as you are my inspiration to improve... and you always produce videos in a way that helps me to learn.  Thanks

My attempt. Have been learning this for a while. Have got Flatworld pretty much sorted aswell. Apologies for crap camera, crap microphone, crap lighting, no face (I like to suck on my bottom lip when I'm concentrating, not a pretty sight) and for playing it a wee bit wrong. I know I don't play it the same as Mr. Cutting, but on my Erica I think it sounds too shrill, so adapted the tune in order to play on the lower notes on the G row.
All in all, being 2 months late, I hope you all enjoy!
P.S. The Mory sounds a hell of alot better in person. Like a bajillion trillion million times better- and I never exaggerate!  ;)
    My favorite ever tune  8)

Sounded fine to me, the box sounds good as well better than when I played it a hundred years ago at The Shovel in Uxbridge when it was brand new.

Zubz: haven't heard from you in ages, and looks like the Saltarelle has changed into a Mory?

Indeed so on both counts! One I'm not happy with, and the other very much so :)

I recorded another but wasn't going to upload it due to bed hair and some weird interpretative bits. Still I listened to it again and it sounded ok I guess (and I am bored of this god awful essay I have due tommorow). I'm in love with this tune, and booked to see Andy Cutting on my 21st birthday in order to hear him play it  ;D
P.S. Don't try to waltz to this one, you'll pull a muscle the speed I'm playing it  >:E
