Diatonic accordion method vol. 1
« on: February 25, 2013, 06:33:48 AM »

I'm a bit confused about the description for this.

http://boutique.mustradem.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=48&osCsid=t9eaarg15sj15fufd0ifnaln84

Does it mean (a) the book is hard copy but the 'CD' is a download (i.e. NOT a CD but mp3) or (b) both the book (PDF) and CD are downloads only?

I do prefer hard copy book and CD (especially for 30 euro!), so if either or neither available from this seller, can anyone point me to where I could buy?

It's a proper book and two CDs. The books are large and well-bound, the CDs come inside the books.

Hope that helps.

Ha ha, but you really think it's hard? In what way?

Yes, thanks!

Strange, though, why they have 'download' on their site.

Well, they came as CDs when I bought them ... It could have changed, I suppose ... And the website does look like that. Should have checked; sorry. ... And my copy's not "spiral-bound". ... I'm out-of-date again. Oooops.  :-[ :|bl

As for the "hard" bit - I can see what Lyra means. It's not a method which promises to get you playing quickly and easily. The intention is to help you gain a thorough grounding in the instrument, and, in a slightly old-fashioned, French way, assumes that that will take some work, both at theory and exercises.

It suits me, though.

I bought this book last year, I had to download the CD's as they are not included.  I like this book and I bought it because there are lots of useful exercises, yes some hard work required!  (:)

If anyone wants to sell on their used copy to me I'd be interested.

A wee bit cheeky to be calling them CDs then, if they're actually mp3s, no...?

I suppose, but they WERE CDs once and it's quite hard to find a suitable other description as "bunch of mp3s" doesn't quite give the right image, however technically accurate.
And they are still set up for you to burn as CDs if that's how you roll.

Also, not mentioned but good value are the (free) videos

First think I do with any CD nowadays is to copy it onto my network as an MP3. Guess that'll be the "cloud" from now on. Anyone interested in this sort of thing should definitely look over the 12 videos that Milleret has put on youtube Lots of "crafty" things going on in there.

 https://www.youtube.com/user/stefaaane38/videos

Then reward him by buying a CD from http://boutique.mustradem.com/  ;)

Me, too.

But for 30 euro I also still like to have the CD. Call me old-fashioned... (:)

Nula, you'll be glad to hear that Book 2 comes with real CDs!!
Lyra, could you post a link to the videos that you mentioned please.
Chris, I'm sure those M&P videos will be very useful....when I've progressed a bit further!

Hahaha, definitely NOT recommended!! Book 1 took me 2 years to work through properly!! (Although I may be slower than average, I'm not sure!) Good luck, Bob.

I just received this today

Méthode complète pour accordéon diatonique. Vol.1 : Le livre du débutant
par Yann Dour

and it looks great! AND not a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to be seen in the book. Magic! I can't wait to get started, but I'm still melodeon-less, alas...

Hope you get your box soon! Have you decided on one yet?

Don't knock 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' too much  ;) It may be hackneyed and possibly superficial, but it's a great tune for starting absolute beginners on - and I mean people who probably don't read music, and who have never picked up a melodeon or concertina, possibly not any instrument, in their life before. It's one of those tunes which is deeply embedded in the memories of very many of us since early childhood and so is a good tune to teach by ear.

I've seen the delight on people's faces when they've attended one of my drop-in melodeon or concertina sessions in Stowmarket/Mendlesham and they have gone away able to play a tune on an instrument for the first time in their lives. I know of at least three people who have then gone on to play the instrument well.
