It seems like a number of forum members have albums/tracks available for sale/download, not all of which will be known to other forum members.  Would there be anything wrong with having a thread where people could draw attention to their releases and tell people how they could get them (as long as they contained the right kind of instruments) - bandcamp, I tunes, cheque in the post etc. etc.?  We already get recommendations of commercial releases on the forum.  I would see that as a good thing, as we can find out about music we would not otherwise have heard of.

Feel free to post in "recordings and videos" or in "Buy and Sell". Whichever seems more appropriate, if we get a large number of posts we can consider creating a special section.

I was just listening to Vivant last night!  Beautiful record.  According to Clive a followup is due soon.  He writes about it here:  http://accordeonaire.blogspot.com/2012/11/vivant-thing-of-beauty.html

I agree with the idea of this thread!

Aw shucks thanks guys - that's very kind. With my not entirely un-impartial head on, why don't we just sticky this thread and see how it gets on? If it dies out we can always unsticky it again.

Well, I've already mentioned this on melnet, but if this thread is the place, I'll give it another short

Mary Humphreys and Anahata: A Bakers' Dozen (Treewind TWD014)

Page on our web site with link for buying CD (and several others of ours)
Bandcamp downloads and previews

There's another (a bit different) coming soon...

You just beat me to it, you rogue. I was trying to google for a smart haircut photo of you, but something kept crashing Firefox (I kid not)  :o  "Sharpe practice" is my favourite, sadly now out of print. Georgeous swing vocals, great cello and melodeon .. coming on nicely  ;)

These have been mentioned before but every little helps:

The Electropathics "Batteries not Included"

This was issued as an LP in 1987 and has never been re-released on CD, however you can download it from iTunes, Amazon, and the other usual places or from http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/Electropathics

Albireo "Northern Cross"

Buy CDs (or download) from http://albireo.bandcamp.com/
You can also download it from the usual places

Albireo ... is there more than one Albireo CD?

Ah, the Albireo one is the one with Kempshot Hunt on it, in that case I've got that too :-)

To follow up on Gary and Matt's kind comments, my CD which has most of me in it is the Vivant one; it's very much in my 'style', whatever that is.

You can stream it here: http://vivant-uk.bandcamp.com or visit the main website at www.vivantmusic.co.uk (which directs you off to Bandcamp to listen/buy). It's also available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify (under 'Mark Prescott and Clive Williams').

There is indeed a followup album in production; sound/recording is finalised, but as per Anahata's wise words of warning to Ollie, the current holdup is with graphic design, where it's taking rather longer to get a design approved by both of us. I'm targetting end of May for release, perhaps a little optimistically!

There's 2 other recordings with me on at http://gigcb.bandcamp.com (main website http://www.gigcb.com) - these are the big (12ish piece) band. They're not on itunes, amazon or spotify. It's by no means all melodeon led, and the melodeon lead is not always me, but you might find Molinara and The Dream on the first album of interest, and perhaps Bergere du Coulandon and Alpraham of interest on the second. In fact, can you tell which tracks are me in the lead, and which are Chris Shaw? No prizes, but I'd be interested to know if you can tell! Like the Vivant album, you can stream them for free at the Bandcamp site; buy them if you like them only.

Cheers,

Clive

A man of taste and discernment  (:)

We're thinking about making a second Albireo album, but it's early days.  Watch this space.

Aw shucks thanks guys - that's very kind. With my not entirely un-impartial head on, why don't we just sticky this thread and see how it gets on? If it dies out we can always unsticky it again.

Thought I'd let you know that my trio is covering "Afterhours/Mistral" followed by a rocking version of "Zelda."  Maybe I'll get up the courage to record and share it with you folks.

Wow, that's great! I don't write many tunes but Mistral is one of mine; afterhours is written my a mate of mine from London that plays violin, Frankie Cleeves. I'd love to hear your version!

OK.  As soon as we get together again I'll make a recording and send it along.  A nice set of tunes.  Am rules!

-- Copy and paste from thread in main board --

Mark and I have finally finished our somewhat overdue (11 years!) second CD, Tree of Life; you can have a listen over at bandcamp, here:

http://vivant-uk.bandcamp.com/album/tree-of-life-violin-and-melodeon-duets

(and of course buy online, hee hee). £12 for the CD (including UK postage), and a worryingly generous £6 for the download version.

At the same time, I've put the first CD on 'honesty box' - pay as much or as little as you like (or nothing!) - for the download version anyway :o - so if you haven't got it yet, or indeed if you've bought the second album and fancy the first one as well, help yourself! Pick that up here:

http://vivant-uk.bandcamp.com/album/vivant

If you haven't heard us, the material is (almost) all traditional, and our style is a very gentle laid back approach - rather against the trend of fast and frenetic, or fast one/slow one you'll hear on many more mainstream releases. What can I say? It's the music we like to play, and I'd like to think that shows a little.  It's all, with the exception of one track on the first album, played simply on violin and melodeon, no double tracking, no extra instruments, as we would play it live.

Listen and enjoy!  :D
