Not exactly an album but a collection of tracks on Soundcloud that I have had some with over the last few years, including some mel.net Tune of The Month tunes.

I haven't been shy about talking about it, but I also haven't posted a link to my own recording, L'Autre Diatoniste, here in the sticky thread. Thanks,

New Album "Hot Airs" by Fendragon
« Reply #23 on: June 12, 2014, 08:11:50 PM »

Our ceilidh Band Fendragon are delighted to announce our first album:  "Hot Airs"

Fendragon are:
Dave Holland - fiddle, hurdy gurdy
Gina Holland - descant recorder, flute
Anahata - melodeon, cello
Mary Humphreys - keyboard, English concertina, banjo

This is mostly straightforward dance music from our regular ceilidh sets, though a few tracks are in instrumental combinations we don't usually take to a live ceilidh. I'm playing melodeon on all but three tracks. Two tracks are Playford tunes with hurdy gurdy, recorder and cello.

For dance clubs, the track listings show the type and length of tunes (they tell us this is useful, though of course we'd much prefer them to have live music...)

There's a couple of tune sets in common with the Out Of Reach CD. Unlike the Out Of Reach project, though, this is not a charity effort - just a collection of good tunes to listen to or dance to, and to promote the band. We're playing at Whitby Folk Week this year (one of the incentives to make the CD, though I'd been thinking of doing it for a while)

Track listings, sound clips and online ordering (UK only at the moment) here: http://www.fendragon.co.uk/recordings.php

Quote from an early review soon to be published in Mardles:
"Cracking tunes, excellent musicianship and playing as tight as a bowstring" Chris Sullivan

Enjoy!

*disclaimer* it's not a melodeon recording as the band won't let me play it with them yet!

For anyone still reading I've just put up up an album on bandcamp with my band, Threepenny Bit. The album is called Pantomime Cannon and we play instrumental dance music, sometimes for ceilidhs and sometimes as concerts. One or two of you may have bumped into us at Sidmouth in the Anchor gardens this year. The tunes on the album are the sort of thing we play for concerts, I.e. more heavily arranged, less ceilidh-able and played with quite a lot of energy. Its released on September the 14th and you can listen to 3 of the tracks as well as pre-order by clicking the link below.

Anyway I hope fans of the genre may find something they like despite there not being a melodeon in sight (we've got a PA instead). If not... well, don't click on the link I guess!

https://threepennybit.bandcamp.com/album/pantomime-cannon

The band is an 8 piece consisting of Guitar (me!), Violin, Flute, Clarinet, PA, Saxophone, Drums and Electric bass

Cheers,

JJ

I see i have neglected the forum a bit the last few months,...Our band's CD has been out for a couple of months now.
I would be very happy to hear what the English speaking community thinks :-)

We even put it on spotify, so you can get a sense of what it is we are doing.

The band I play with, The Earthquakers, have finally recorded a CD, after over 20 years of live gigs and never getting round to it. Some details and snippets here: http://www.earthquakers.org.uk There's melodeon on about half of the tracks, with some concertina and piano accordion as well - some traditional and borrowed material, and about half of the album based on tunes I've written over the years.
