Previously I did not need to login each time I visited the site as I have selected to be logged in "Forever". Has something changed or is this because of IE 7 or something else? Not a big deal but saves some typing and clicking.

PS. I never log out, just close the browser tab.

PPS. Even after clicking "Website Home" I need to log in again.

This seems to be an IE7 issue? With Firefox, my second browser now, it seems to work OK as it did some 6 months ago with IE7.

This seems to be an IE7 issue? ...

Or rather the other way around, are the bulletin board programmers giving up with the IE7?

Try checking your bookmark. I was having a similar problem - instead of taking me to the 'Show unread posts since last visit' option, my bookmark was going to the login screen, and not remembering that I was already logged in.
I fixed it by updating my bookmark which now points to http://www.melodeon.net/smf/index.php?action=unread. I can't remember what the value was before, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have 'smf' in it.
Hope this helps.

Hi Pete

You have just pointed out one of the settings that I failed to correct after I had to replace some files recently.  I've made the change now, but one consequence is that I'm afraid your new bookmark may no longer work!  Instead it should now be http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php?action=unread

I've also changed another setting which might help with the problem logout.

Changed the bookmark back and now seems to be working fine
