Shipping from UK to USA
« on: April 22, 2013, 08:43:24 AM »

I've had an enquiry from a fellow Melnet member about sending a box from the UK to the West Coast of the USA. I've tried looking up previous topics but with no success. Does anyone have experience of doing this, and if so which carriers/methods you used? Any ideas about costs would be appreciated too...

Cheers,
Guy

Usually costs £70 to £80, depending on weight and volume, most couriers offer similar prices and levels of service,  if you need to deliver to a PO box, which is common in some parts of the USA, Parcelforce is the best bet.

Thanks for the quick response Theo, that's really helpful.

As for methods, double-boxing is the way to go for international postage.

I have resigned myself to having to reach overseas to get what I need for my restoration project.  I look at  all the goodies that Charlie Marshall has on his site and then try and find a fraction of that state-side. The options are limited. I am more than happy to give our UK friends my business, I just hate the added expense.

I've always been happy with Parcelforce, and I've bought requently from the UK over the years.  Very smooth customs process on the U.S. end, because they go through the U.S. Post office.  Parcelforce are hard to beat.
