Theme of the Month for June 2013: TV Music
« on: June 01, 2013, 11:20:51 PM »

Well, we tried film music last year, so let's try the related theme of music from TV programmes now! Anything goes as ever, just so long as it was composed for, or is strongly associated with, a particular TV show ( so if Midsomer Murders does a 10 second clip of a morris side dancing Princess Royal, as any scene at the county fair will inevitably feature, well, good try, but that's not really in the spirit of the theme is it?  ;D )

Any TV show goes, and for our overseas friends with wonderfully local shows that no-one else on this forum will never heard of, let alone seen, they are of course fair game - in fact, extra kudos for going for something unusual like that!

Looking forward to a nice selection of somewhat unexpected stuff,

Cheers,

Clive

This beautiful and popular air was originally called Dr Mackay's Farewell to Creagorry by its composer Iain McLachlan. When David Silver of Inverness, was asked to write a song for a BBC Thriller called "The Dark Island", filmed in Benbecula, he used McLachlan‘s air and set words to it, inspired by the island of Benbecula.

Not sure why brief and minimalist is the order of the day at the moment, this was aching to be tried out.

All the best

In case anyone's stuck for ideas or wants some hints as to how a tune goes, this might be useful:

Ah! television music. Now, I know a tune that was used for a Breton soap opera. I think the tune was called Theme Vanity or some such name.  >:E

I looked for that (speld correct with accents annat) on you tube and it suggested me firmly the Dr Who theme.

Which was concerning  :o

I used to like watching The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe in the summer holidays. The opening titles and theme tune are short and so is my version.
