World Sauntering Day
« on: June 19, 2013, 07:43:34 PM »

Today is "World Sauntering Day."  I kid you not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Sauntering_Day

I think it appropriate that the members of this forum have the opportunity to contribute to the festivities.  So perhaps, instead of reels and jigs, we might focus on waltzes or exploring a few slow airs.

As Wikipedia points out, however, sauntering is not lollygagging, so chores must still be completed.

It only occurs when there is a Y in the day, eg. Monday, Tuesday, etc. (:)

You could always try the annual UK worm charming competition, it's this afternoon, between Nantwich and Crewe.  See  http://www.wormcharming.com/

Cheshire is tops!

Or for something equally rare and unexpected there is the Foghorn Requiem this afternoon at Souter Lighthouse.

They can't silence Souter lighthouse! My first job was in South Shields; it was a note of comfort on foggy nights as I toddled sleepily over to the surgical wards at 3am :'(

Thanks Lester, "uncommon instrument awareness" eh? As one of several melodeonistas here who can think back to the pleasures of colonoscopy … we were pretty aware already  :-\
