It's not often that the largest newspapers in Norway write about melodeon, or give reviews to new melodeon cd's. But this week Norway's largest newspaper "Aftenposten" gave my debut-cd 5 out of 6 points, and the headline was "Beautiful and melodic", and the journalist wrote lots of nice things! The title of the cd is "Spelferd heim", which is best translated as "A musical journey back home".

If you want to listen to some of the tracks from the cd you can find them at http://www.myspace.com/rannveigdjonne

Congratulations Rannveig,I enjoyed your videos on youtube.

I was wondering if your last name referred to the town called Djonne.I have distant ancestry from Eidefjord and Djonne.

Sorry, something went wrong, but if you google for Embrik Bergaplass you will find him and the sound clips as well.

Is this style typical of Norwegian folk tunes? and is D/G tuning common?

Chris

No most common in Scandinavia is G/C tuning

The cd was of EMBRIK BERGAPLASS playing mainly tunes known as springars(type of dance style). They were played on both single row G and two row D/G boxes.
More on Embrik, from a week or two ago:  http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php/topic,1211.0.html.  More details on the CD would be very interesting to me.

Hi Rannveig

I came across your page on Myspace by accident a few weeks ago and then couldn't find it again! Thanks for posting details of your CD.   I am enchanted with your music. How can I buy your CD?
