I know concertinas are usually hexagonal but this is the first one I've seen like this

Compare, for example:

Some were made very "house-shaped" and even decorated like one:

I can't even imagine how to play that one... there are 2 rows of buttons on each side of the hand rest. Is it like C/G if you hold it one was and G/D if you hold it another way??

If you like that, check out this 4 reed set concertina I saw in a museum in Klingenthal.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/26639011@N06/3171874691/in/photolist-5QhFQF-4R9u4F-4RdFHW

Do like those - the house concertina and the 4 way octagonal one, not to mention the rest. Brings to mind the idea of a "courting dulcimer"* and the Twister-like implications of a "courting concertina."  Though the Fayre Four Sisters did the doubling up with standard english concertinas.**
