Sounds good. Who do I contact to book a place? What is the cost? Is there a railway station close by? Would I be able to discuss the arrangements with someone during Whitby  week?  So many questions!!
I believe I am correct in saying that the The Organiser In Chief for this event is Strigulino, backed up by Dunny who lives close to the venue and has valiantly negotiated a safe path through the minefield of possible dates and made a firm booking with the pub landlord.

Probably it is best to send a Private Message to Strigulino and/or Dunny to register your interest. I can't help you further, sorry (I'm just one of the tutors!).

Edit: wot Helena said  ;)

Playgroup is a rather ad hoc affair - it's a turn up and have a whip-round to cover the costs kind of thing.  As has been said, just drop me a PM or say you're coming in this thread and I just count up from there, and nearer the time I send out info to anyone who looked interested.

Oh, incidentally, for new forum members who aren't entirely sure what we are talking about, Melodeon Playgroup is a workshop for absolute beginners to what we call "toddlers", and came out of the feeling that the major melodeon weekends, while very worthwhile for the beginner, tended to be a bit daunting for the newer player.  :)

It's more about having fun than being much good, although I think a lot of last year's alumni were being rather modest about their skills, hence this year we have playgroup for everyone from "which way up do you hold it" to "I can manage a couple of tunes and am thinking about the bass end", and for those people who have been playing a few years and want to stretch themselves a bit we will have a "big school" session as well.

I am sure that Lester, as last year, will be taking the toddlers through working on a simple tune, and giving a workshop on basic maintenance etc, and I would imagine I will be Prefect for that group.   Steve Freereader will be with the juniors and he is working on a programme at the moment - getting to grips with the bass end and working on some local tunes has been mentioned.  I think Helena may well oblige me by being Prefect for that class.  We will also do the "party pieces" again (everyone who feels up to it does their current favourite tune, whether we get duplicates or not.  So what if we get five versions of Speed the Plough, it's performance practice that counts).

More details nearer the day.  Payment in advance not required - once we know how many people are coming then the hire costs are split amongst all comers, but I think off the top of my head it would be around a tenner or at most £20.  Arrange your own accomodation.  There is camping for the brave.

Saturday evening last year we had a little session in the pub, and Sunday we were going to have a local clog side dancing out but flooding meant half the side couldn't get to the pub, sadly.

Ooh yes... especially if I get a badge  (:)

Tee hee, only five?  ;)

I'm not sure about whether we do Party Pieces as one big group or split it into Playgroup and Big School.  Perhaps split them but hold them at different times so that you can watch the other group's efforts if you want to?

I'll mention it to the local morris sides as well - maybe some from foreign parts may like to come along? Sticking my neck out I can't believe that the weather will be as bad as last year!

I think you will have to buy the Bagman a few pints for starters!!!!
