French field recording #4 - Auvergnat style 3/8 bourrée
« on: August 04, 2013, 08:14:29 AM »

In the 20 years i've been watching it, the 3/8 Auvergne bourrée has got bigger and bigger, led perticularly by the Vulcans group in Puy de Dôme. Their festival, usually early July is quite super.

I've said 6m2 per couple in the past, these grand ballers were using twice that! The music here is excellent, look for the signature Auvergne musician foot tapping on the Gascin rondo post. Speed typical, can be faster, and without the "spring" it ain't Auvergne style.  Poules Huppées at half this peed in some English sessions … well, sad rather than trad?  Instruments are fiddle, gurdy, accordéon,  the bloke in this duo was on mouth organ.

Early evening tea dance, St Gervais. The german lady next to me was actually drinking tea! Apology, I posted a gascon rondo as bourrée, mobile phones on wi-fi … challenging  ::) FB bugs allowed me to correct but then showed old version!

These are all fantastic ... damn fine harmonica playing on this one, too!
