I've just received a message from Bromyard and Winslow Town Council to the effect that it is still closed and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future as the owner is trying to sell it.

Hands up those that remember using the Railway, the White Horse, the Working Men's Club and the Holly Tree.

These are the timings that I have.

A07 Falcon Mews: Concert 20:01-20:40
B08 Falcon Mews Upstairs: Picking up the D/G 11:00-12:00
B37 Football Club: Music Session 17:00-18:00
C30b Falcon Mews Upstairs: Harmony on D/G M 13:00-14:00

Hope to see some of you there!

the workshops at the falcon look interesting. if a little of ukebert's magic can rub off on to his pupils ,then its not to be missed.   just a silly question,  how do we book a place at the workshop.  who do we speak to.   thanks in advance.  brian..

In the past you just turn up about 10 minutes before the workshop is due to start, usually plenty of room for everyone, unlike the English Session in the Falcon Bar where you have to arrive very early to get a seat.

Do you know which days they are on?

We are stewarding on the Saturday morning so will miss that workshop.

At least we will be free for the session in the Football Club.

I should note that the concert is on the Friday, the beginner workshop and the session are on the Saturday and the advanced workshop on Sunday.

Apropos of nothing of course, the last time I went to Bromyard FF was about 40 years ago .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pubs name I can't remember, it wasn't the Hop Pole

I can remember something like that myself. Was it something like the Rose and Sceptre. The year that we all got a badge saying 'I survived Bromyard 197?'. Went again there again about 20 years ago to the same pub, one of the best sessions I have ever had. At one point we were even orchestrated and had  melodeons, a string section, drums and cutlery in another corner and the brass from the Silurians bringing up the rear, and me on the counter conducting them all. Absolute bedlam.

is Eric Geddies still making his perfect pies?
Geddes pie shop's been gone, ohh, at least 15 years now... best tip for pies and comestibles is Legges on the Tenbury Road...

That just shows ow long it's been since I was last there...

Good Heavens Mr.Parkes, you're not that old surely!

I'm looking at the "I survived badge ?" and it's 1981 which was the year a lot of tents, and it was mostly tents then, were blown down in a terrible storm on the Saturday evening and a lot of folk ended up sleeping in a Marquee.

Happy days!

I had a very pleasant weekend too, weather forecast perhaps just a little over the top? Lovely chats with Ollie, Ukebert and Tiny, and was delighted to renew acquaintance with bagpipe maker Dominic Allan again, an old friend from St Chartier.

I bought a ticket this year, a bit of a donation as I always do the pub fringe. Turned out very well as the latter was well down in numbers from previous years, though tune swapping in a group of 3-4 has its merits v the usual Grand Session ;) But I still didn't get to any concerts!  Super swing session with the Malvern clique (as usual) on the Sunday.

We had a massive session in The Falcon on Saturday lunchtime - hard to find a seat but a great time had by all.

Hey ho then! That was my "on site" day. I got to the Falcon for their eccentric (though excellent) victuals at 6.30 and there was only a very self-contained S Wales table. It was the same mid and late Saturday evening.

Sunday afternoon at Falcon was busy, almost standing room only … but needed a singsong by then. I do suspect the weather forecast (or something) may have dropped numbers. There were seats at the concerts!

With talk of Bromyard, it brings back memories.
I only went twice, and the second time my tent was one of the few survivors. Am stunned to think it was '81!
Thanks for the reminder, I couldn't exactly date it but have the survivor's badge somewhere!

This was my first visit to Bromyard, camping in mid September was always going to be risky and we froze on saturday night. Had a great session in the Falcon on Sunday lunchtime and caught some of the acts, Sarah Savoy's accordeon player was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed Morris en masse in the town, particularly taken with the farty Tuba basslines of one side and very much appreciated the football club showers. Brilliant!

Sadly every time I found a good pub session it was so heaving I didn't stand a chance of even finding standing room, then was stewarding. Need to get there earlier next year!

My first Bromyard too. The stand-out, did-I-really-see-that moment for me was said farty tuba, massed band and northwest morris side processing on to the festival site to the theme tune from The Addams Family. In the pouring rain. Priceless!

For those who are wondering, it was Earlsdon.  Wouldn't have happened in your day Mr Price...then again... :|glug
