C minor on a Bflat/Eflat box is the button-position equivalent of E minor on a D/G, so I'd expect that to work well.

Yes, fingering the same of course. I actually meant that it's little easier on the ear, i.e. not quite as squeeky as on the D/G.   :||:

Still squeezing after all these years.
Mostly on hohners , with a couple of Dinos and a smattering of anglos - and now a Jeffries duet

Here we go, my effort at this tune, played on a G/C Hohner (so it's in A minor)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lDV8Hgnliw

You'll see I laugh in the face of accidentals, and ignore them completely! If you haven't started learning this tune yet, I'd encourage you to have a go; it's much easier than it looks/sounds, and is a very good tune to experiment with harmonies - they seem to play themselves almost.

Cheers,

Clive

Pleased to have got this far with it, but the fingers get forgetful after once through, so two boxes and once through on each. As simple as the need!

All the best from Suffolk.

This has been interesting for me.  I go to accordion clubs and I've heard this tune hundreds of times probably.  I couldn't believe I had to listen to a load more versions on the forum.  But I am thoroughly enjoying these.  Shows the strength of the melodeon, maybe also the folk/dance roots of musette music comes through.  Some great playing as well.

:|bl I'm very flattered Matt. The big problem that I have with this tune is that it is not fully do-able on a 2 row, and therefore we are all missing out the third part (if it can be called that), maybe it is time I bought a new box to play it on!

Yes, tackling that third part kicked my butt when learning on my 2.5 row. I feel like having to learn that third part (required for a gig) really forced me to get to know that third row.  Now I'm trying to learn it on my three-row (F/Bb/Eb) and without the accidentals, I'm still trying to do the third part, but have to develop workarounds.

I remember the first time I nailed it in performance, I was practically giddy afterwards.  But I still mess it up about half the time.

One thing I'm learning from all your versions is that it works very well at a moderate pace.  The Edith Piaf version is actually quite swift.

Is the Lucia to the CBA what the Preciosa is to the melodeon then?
