What key is this in?
« on: September 07, 2013, 09:44:02 PM »

I found out by accident that playing an whilst play mp3s on my Samsung pad and putting the guitar tuning app on, it tells me. Simple. I expect a smart phone should do the same.

I've read this a few times with a puzzled frown but I'm opting for.....

Thanks, Skipy. The only foreign languages I studied in school were French and Latin: Isle-of-Wightian was not on the curriculum.  >:E

I do have a tuner/frequency analyser on my phone. Be careful wrt melodeons, especially if more than one instrument is playing. Harmonics abound, and my little gadget was registering Ds as A

… but they are cheap, and help to fill idle moments :|glug

Spooky that you should say that, cus' when I were a Lad, we used to deliver coal to Stanley Unwin's home in Long Buckby and Yes, he talked just like that, even when he answered the door! He was always a nice chap! :D

My sincere apologies to ACE, I hope I'm not offending here :-[

Yep, that's what I meant to say. But the single malt predictive text must have changed it ;)

Had a few drinks with Stanley when he was doing a variety show on the pier. I could understand everything he said after a few pints. He had more trouble understanding me ;D

Re: the tuner reading D as A
I've had this on guitar especially with low notes. I found that it wasn't random - always the 5th(logical), so if you tuned it to the display it was tuned to what you wanted.
For a simpler solution- lots of volume usually frightened it in to doing as it was asked.
